Twilio
Send SMS and WhatsApp messages and verify phone numbers from your projects.
Connect your Twilio account and your projects can send texts and WhatsApp messages, run phone-number verification with one-time codes, and receive replies.
What you need from Twilio
Twilio uses four values. Create them in the Twilio Console:
- 1Region — where your account and key live: United States (US1), Ireland (IE1) or Australia (AU1). Most accounts are US1. Keys only work in their own region.
- 2Account SID — on the Console home page; starts with
AC. - 3API Key SID — create a Standard key under Account → API keys & tokens; starts with
SK. - 4API Key Secret — shown once when you create the key. Copy it before leaving the page.
Then open Connectors → Twilio → Connect, pick the region, paste the three values and save.
What you can build
The builder will ask which Twilio number to send from (or your Messaging Service) and, for verification, your Verify service.
Every message costs money on your Twilio account, so the builder puts sending behind your login or your site's member login — strangers can't send messages from your site. Twilio also recommends turning on SMS Pumping Protection and reviewing Geo Permissions before you go live.
Receiving replies
For incoming messages or delivery updates, ask the builder to "save incoming SMS". It creates a webhook address and tells you where to paste it in the Twilio Console.
Troubleshooting
- Error 70051 (authorization failed) — the key SID or secret is wrong, or the region doesn't match the key. Check the region first.
- "switched off for this workspace" — turn the connection on in the Twilio panel.
- Reading WhatsApp or MMS media needs a key with media permissions; a Standard key is enough for sending.
